Seven Down. Two to Go.

The team announced it had signed Jason Hill to a four-year contract on Thursday evening. Talks are ongoing with Patrick Willis and Ray McDonald. All sides are hopeful the two defensive players will sign and report to camp when it opens Sunday.

Personally, I liked the Hill pick a lot. He was clocked as one of the fastest players at the combine (4.32) and should push Ashley Lelie hard for playing time. Speed at wideout is something we had with Antonio "Orange Lambo" Bryant for a few games last year, but that quickly faded with his attitude. The rest of the corps is made up of possession-type guys (DJ82, Battle, Gilmore, etc.) and Lelie is supposed to be our field-stretcher. But his historical lack of production (*cough* BUST *cough*) makes me wonder if he catches more than 20-30 balls this year. Preditction: Hill replaces Lelie in the lineup by week 8.

FLASHBACK: The last time the Niners brought in a 3rd-round WR with a chip on his shoulder, it turned out ok......well, until the end.
